What’s the Difference Between the Bugaboo Bee 5 and Bee 6?
Bee 5 and Bee 6 Seat Unit and Canopy.
Some updates have been done on the Bee 6 when it comes to these two features. Both are still from 6 months although they have a lie-flat option.
Both seats have the same width but the Bee 6 is much bigger in the sense that it can be adjusted not only with the length but height as well.
Both have padded cushion fabrics on the seat, but the Bee 6 has ventilation holes integrated into the stroller. Keeping air circulating.
The seat is suitable for up to 20 or 22kg depending on your child’s growth. It’s with your family longer than the former model.
When bought the Bee 6 comes with a removable bumper bar and can rotate as well.
This keeps your child safer besides the harness system. Another change will be the canopy. The new version has a bigger canopy that’s extended.
Bugaboo Bee 6 has a peek a boo window and breezy panels keeping the air flowing even more. This version offers you to view your child when facing forward.
The Bee 5 lacked that cocoon look the Bee 6 offers which make it a bit unique and more likeable.
Bee 5 and Bee 6 Weight and Dimensions.
For the Bee 5, the weight is 8.9kg with the stroller seat only and 9.4kg with the carrycot. It has open dimensions of H92cm × W53cm × L85cm.
When it comes to the folded dimensions is H32cm × W46.5kg × L90cm. For the Bee 6 is 9.4kg for the stroller weight and the open dimensions are 109 cm x 53 cm x 91.5 – 109cm and the folded dimensions are 90 cm x 46 cm x 35 cm.
A downgrade with the weight because it’s heavier than the previous model. Other than that the Bee 6 is more compact in the sense that its width is less and the length is short as well.
When standing the Bee 6 is bigger than the Bee 5 which can be good or bad depending on your height.
Overall the Bugaboo Bee 6 is better when it comes to the dimensions, but the lighter weight for the Bee 5 makes it stand out.
Bee 5 and Bee 6 Handle and Folding Mechanism.
Bugaboo Bee 6 has a better handle because it’s designed better to make it easier to grab and push. It has a handle height of 91.5 – 109cm.
This makes it perfect for short and tall parents. It’s perfect for the average human height. With the Bee 5, you have from 98cm up to 105cm.
This is also a good height but less of course. Not that good for much shorter parents and not the best option for really tall parents.
Bugaboo Bee 6 wins here as well because its handle height is perfect for both parties.
When it comes to the folding mechanism it’s the same as the one-piece fold. Both fold with one hand and are also steered with just one hand.
The Bee 6 offers a two-fold as well distinguish from the former. When folded the Bee 6 stands on its thanks to how the frame is designed.
This makes it easier to travel within public transport or when travelling abroad, though it’s a bit heavier. Making the Bee 6 win again.
Bee 5 and Bee 6 Wheels and Basket.
Both offer wheels that are all suspension with good maneuvrability and all, but the Bugaboo Bee 6 has bigger wheels and these more puncture-proof.
They are shock absorbing and overall gives better rides. The bigger the wheels the better ride they provide and the Bee 6 does just that.
You also have a different design wheel system. Bee 5 have good wheels but it does not handle bumpy rides and tough terrains like the former does.
The Bugaboo strollers offer the same size basket with the capacity of holding 4kg weight but they differ. The Bee 5 has net sides on the basket.
Bee 6 is however fully covered and does not have net base fabrics. Otherwise, they are similar in other ways.
Bee 5 and Bee 6 Price.
So with a new update the price tend to be more expensive. Depending on what you choose the Bugaboo Bee 5 can cost from £345 up to £450.
That’s with either an aluminium frame or a black frame and the colour set comes to play as well. The grey melange tends to be more expensive than other colours.
For the Bee 6, it’s from £645 which as stated can also differ. It can be more than that and up to £800. These prices are only for the pushchairs (exclude the accessories).
Although expensive the Bee models are Bugaboo cheapest models along with the Lynx. As you can see Bugaboo Bee 5 is much cheaper and affordable.
It’s still stylish and in trend, so you will save a lot of money buying it. It is still compatible with three main accessories and is suitable for the city.
You will however miss out on some features.
Which One is Better?
Without any doubt the Bugaboo Bee 6 is better. You can clearly see the features and fabrics have been updated and it’s made to tackle tougher terrains than the previous model.
This model also came out in 2020 making it new and a high demanding buggy. For those parents who love to have new and trendy things then the Bee 6 delivers just that.
It has gotten an update on every feature. Some are major and others minor but it’s still an update. The only con it has compared to the Bee 5 is the weight and price.
The price is to be expected, but the weight is not much from the previous one. 9.4kg is near lightweight and has a much better weight than most standard buggies.
Bee 6 is more suitable for babies, toddlers and even the parent. It has thought of soo many details to accommodate many lifestyles which the former lack.
The seat, canopy, wheels, folding mechanism, wheels, tyres and the quality fabrics which are the reason why pushchairs are chosen.
All of these the 2020 model exceed in, making it superior.
All the features with the new update which the Bee 5 lacks are the cons. Both share many cons as well. Both are expensive and not that lightweight.
They don’t have a leg rest rather a footrest underneath. Both are also only for single babies and the basket size is not the biggest.
4kg of weight is a few groceries and a small changing bag. The wheels are not the best. They are not all-terrain wheels and they lack lockable swivel wheels.
This makes both these mostly suitable for urban lifestyle only. They are not really for hiking or visiting the country side. The Bee 5 is only up to 3 years.
For some it’s good and for others it’s not. Your toddler might still want to use the stroller up to 4 years.
Despite the updates, both are still quality and have the main features. These are always compared with other top brands like Uppababy, Silver Cross, etc.
If you want a standard buggy with extra features and a good ride around the city then these are good. They also are good to use when travelling.
They are not that light weight but they do offer compact fold to make it easier. They won’t take up that much space even in your car boot or at home.
If you want a more advanced buggy with the chance of strolling almost anywhere then the Bee 6 is the best one. Bee 5 is good for those who have simpler lifestyles.
