The Twin Pram: About the Maclaren Twin Techno.
Product dimension: 74 x 75 x 104.5 cm.
The Maclaren Techno Twin is suitable from birth with the seats which makes it very convenient for many. Each seat reclines on its own and they offer 4 reclining positions.
It means you can even use the stroller for children of similar ages, but not that major difference. It is mostly for twins though. You have a static handlebar than the normal handlebar.
Maclaren’s Twin strollers are said to be small enough to fit many doorways which is not always the case for double strollers, especially side to side prams.
This means you are free to visit many places, even your favourite restaurants. You won’t be restricted to go out with your little munchkins.
It also provides a so-called umbrella fold to make storing it easier. Just like the one above these seats also offer legrest which can be adjusted with just one hand.
It has an infant safety system installed and comes with straps for you to use. Carry it around when travelling or going down or upstairs.
If you happen to live in a flat without a lift/elevator then this feature is useful. 5 point harness system to keep baby safe and secured.
The folding part is even easier because of the one-hand fold mechanism. You don’t have to use both hands if you are busy holding things.
The brake system Is controlled by your foot. You also have a water-resistant canopy with peek a boo and a sun visor for weather protection.
All suspension wheels make the ride easier and the pushchair easier to push. The fabrics are reflectable making it easier for someone to see you during the night.
Only forward-facing, but the windows do make up for it. Weighs around 11.9kg which makes it heavier than the one above.
included in the purchase is a rain cover. The stroller can be converted into a pram system with the purchase of carrycots. Giving your babies the traditional comfort to lie flat.
The maximum weight that is recommended it’s up to 30kg which means 15kg for each child. That is around 3 years.
The Differences Between These Two Twin Prams.
1. Age Suitability is Different.
One major difference between these two is age suitability. The Nano Duo is suitable from 6 months upward which means you can’t use it before that, well it depends on your children.
The Maclaren Techno, however, is fit to use straight from birth. Which makes it ideal for newborns up to toddlers. This major difference can be a big factor for some parents.
2. Some Difference in Their Features.
Maclaren Techno offers windows and a sun visor which almost covers the seat. The seats can also be folded independently which the other could not do.
You have 4 reclining positions and a static handlebar. Unlike the Nano Duo, it has a standard handle. The former also offers you a foot-operated brake to make things easier.
A one-hand fold mechanism and the legrest can be adjusted with just one hand. When folded the stroller provides an umbrella fold and an infant safety system to your newborn.
The Mountain Buggy Nano Duo has also features that the other one doesn’t offer. It stands when folded and has fabrics that are more suitable for any season.
Excellent wheels, they are not only all suspension but also swivel also. The seats have more space and are deeply built to provide a bigger space.
It’s more cushioned and comfortable for babies and toddlers is lie around. The basket underneath is bigger and can take up to 8kg of weight.
The Nano Duo has more accessories to offer such as the sun cover.
3. Difference in Weight.
Although not that many kilograms difference it is still a big gap. A stroller weighing 3kg less is much better and easier for the one pushing and carrying.
The Mountain Buggy Nano Duo is of course lighter being a very light double stroller and easier to manoeuvre with your children on board.
These are the three major differences they share when it comes to features.
Which One Is Better?
Why the Mountain Buggy Nano Duo Can Be Better.
There are many reasons why it can be better, and I already mentioned some of those above. The fact it’s lighter than the former.
The buggy also has a standard handlebar which makes it easier to grab and push. It’s easier to hang a changing bag without needing clips.
The basket is also ideal for many families, especially those parents who buy groceries every day and don’t have a car. The Twin buggy is also more ideal for the city lifestyle.
It offers swivel wheels and better tyres. Making it easy to use in narrow spaces. If you want more deep seats and cushioned fabrics without placing a blanket then this one is perfect.
Besides all the things above, it also has more colours to offer and taller seats which makes it better than the Maclaren Twin Techno.
Why the Maclaren Twin Techno Can Be Better.
It’s better because the seats are suitable from birth up to 3 years. If you want a simple and cheap stroller because you are on a tight budget then this is one of the best.
You don’t need to have carrycots. Just buy a changing bag and then you are good to go. Because of the static handle, you can hang many bags on the handle.
Although too much of is not good. If you want to able to fold the pram easier then this one is good. It allows you to use your other hand to do other things.
Although it’s heavier than the former, it’s still light for a double stroller. What also makes it good is that it fits many doorways like mentioned above.
So, if you love visiting places this stroller might the solution.
Which One Wins?
After analysing both of these the Mountain Buggy Nano Duo looks more promising than the other one if you live in the city and the Maclaren Twin Techno is a good standard stroller for any to use.
So, both of them win when weighing out the cons and pros. Depending on your lifestyle each stroller is suitable for different things, so there’s not right and wrong.
If you are saving money and on a budget then the Maclaren Twin Techno is better because you can use it directly from birth. No need for carrycots.
It’s not suitable for a car seat but still offers many features. It’s for a simple and standard lifestyle. So, the choice is yours.
Although the prams are great they do have many cons. Not all pushchairs are nearly perfect. They are only for twins and not for single babies and children of different ages.
The Maclaren can be used for children of similar ages base on the independent reclining positions (My idea). It can still take more space than tandem pushchairs.
Both are not suitable for car seats which means they can’t be converted into 3in1 travel systems. Car seats are sometimes easier to use for babies and many parents find it better. (Me included).
Mountain Buggy Nano Duo is already somehow expensive, and you have to spend more money to have the whole bundle which is also a con for many parents.
None of them has all-terrain tyres which makes it a bit difficult to visit any place, plus the Techno twin stroller doesn’t have swivel wheels.
It will make it harder to steer and push on rougher grounds. Both don’t have bumper bars either. It’s better to have one to keep the babies safe.
Although the Nano Duo is made for the city they both look simple and might not be for any parent, and of course, stand no chance against other brands. Like the Bugaboo Donkey 3 and Silver Cross Wave tandem pushchair.
Lightweight Twin Prams Ideal for Travellers and City Dwellers.
Would you not agree? That these lightweight prams are just perfect for travellers and those who live in the city. Although the Twin Techno is not the best option for the city it still tiny and will fit the city’s busy environments.
The prams are also perfect to buy for your toddlers. If you don’t mind spending money you can buy other famous strollers for your twin babies, and then, later on, buy these for your toddlers.
When they are heavier then the lighter strollers will be more ideal. If you buy them from the start you will face some obstacles on the way, but they are still good.
In my own experience, these are perfect for travelling. Lightweight strollers that are easy to fold are best to have when travelling, so these two a very good.
They are even good to use when using public transport because they have carry handles, are compact fold and light to carry. The list goes on and on.
What are your thoughts on these two? Would they be ideal for the lifestyle you and your family have?
