The Cabriofix is suitable from birth up to 13kg which is around 12 or 15 months. It can depend on your baby’s height and weight. The famous Cabriofix comes with soft padded side impact protection.
It’s made to endure a lot and keep your baby safe. These are extra padded which means the foam absorbs more and bounces off things.
You also have inner layers such as the newborn body and head support and the head hugger. It can be adjusted to suit your child while they are growing.
The layers are also made so the newborns won’t risk falling forward. With the adjustment, it can hold them steady. The seat also offers a 3 point harness system.
It can be adjusted with one hand to fit your child and it’s enough to keep them safe. It also includes chest pads to keep the harness soft and safe for them.
Much easier for you as well. You won’t need to clean the harness. Only the pads. Tiny belt hooks are designed for each side of the seat.
These are there to make things easier. When you are putting your baby on the seat you will need the harness out of the way. It’s not easy to do that with just one hand, or it is but they might fall back.
The hooks will ensure they won’t. With an adjustable or removable canopy as well. You can have the seat complete free or with the sun canopy
It will give them shade and protection from the sun. An ergonomic handle and not just a normal handle. This is newer and offers an easier way to carry the seat.
Only rear-facing and the seat can be adjusted in an upward position to make it more suitable for bigger babies. Which will make them more comfortable.
The covers can be removed to wash them. Keeping the Cabriofix car seat clean and long-lasting. The Car Seat with installed without the base in your car by just using the cars 3 point sides.
Cabriofix with adapters is compatible with all Maxi Cosi and Quinny strollers. If you happen to own them this one is for you. Cabriofix is available in multiple colours. (If you choose graphite it’s more expensive.
Maxi Cosi Easyfix Base.
So, the easy fix base can be used with the Isofix or the cars 3 point seatbelt sides. It’s good to have both options. The base is basic and simple to apply.
It has colour indicators. Showing you either or not you have fixed the car seat in the right way. The belt is much tighter which offers more security.
Many parents go for the base because they want their children safely seated, and to be protected. The belt also makes it easier for older babies
It can be tilted more upwardly to give their legs more room. Besides the Easyfix base, the car seat is also compatible with the Familyfix base, Easy base and 2Wayfix base.
The options are many and unlimited.
- It’s not an i-Size complaint car seat and not checked with the new R129 regulation safety checker.
- No blue guidelines for the seatbelt.
- Doesn’t offer many padded soft fabrics.
- Expensive as well. Cheaper when bought with a base like this one.
- Only compatible with Maxi Cosi and Quinny strollers.
- Adapters are needed, which means you have to buy adapters separately.
- No extra features on the canopy (Is basic compared to many).
Maxi Cosi Cabriofix vs Other Car Seats.
The Cabriofix is no doubt good for many users and it’s at least useable up to your baby can support themselves. It does have competitors though, which are car seats from the same brand and other brands as well.
For this comparison I choice the Maxi Cosi Tinca i-Size car seat and Joie Gemm car seat.
Cabriofix vs Tinca i-Size car seat.
Although the Tinca car seat is an i-Size the Cabriofix still has a chance against it. They both look similar when it comes to design, and they share other similarities. These are:
- Suitable from birth up to 13kg.
- Sun canopy.
- Extra padded impact protection.
- Head and body support.
- Compatible with base and without.
- Compatible with the Familyfix base.
- Both compatible with all Maxi Cosi stroller with adapters.
- Both are rear-facing only.
- 3 point harness system.
When it comes to differences the first noticeable one is of course the i-size complaint. It’s safer to use and offers better impact protection and rear-facing experience
The seat weighs 3.2kg, but it’s more expensive. The Cabriofix single is way cheaper. Tinca car seat also offers more protection for the neck.
On the other hand, Cabriofix although not an i-size complaint still offers features the former don’t have. Features such as hooks, head hugger, ergonomic handle and its compatible with more bases.
Three extra bases such as Easy fix, 2wayfix and Easy base. It’s also compatible with Quinny strollers, unlike the other one. As mentioned above it’s way cheaper.
Both take the same spot. Although the Tinca i-Size car seat offers more support, it lacks soo many other things which the former provides.
Scaling and comparing what they both offer makes them equal.
Cabriofix vs Joie Gemm Car Seat.
Both of these are similar in style but differ in their designs and fabrics. Both are compliant with the old regulation standard. Other similarities are:
- Suitable from birth to a year plus.
- Sun canopy
- Covers are washable.
- Ergonomic handle.
- The harness can be adjustable and come with chest pads.
- Compatible with its brand and others.
- Inner layers are adjustable and removable.
- With base and without a base.
The Joie Gemm is compliant with most aeroplanes, offers curve under to rock the seat and it’s compatible with all Joie strollers without the adapters.
Joie Gemm car seat is also compatible with other stroller brands but this time with the use of adapters. It has 5 harness belt instead of 3 which includes the hips as well.
It’s cheaper, however, it’s heavier around 4kg+. As seen above the Cabriofix has extra side impact protection, it offers more colours, has hooks, softer body and head support and it can be more comfortable for babies as they grow.
The seat is also compatible with more bases and it’s much lighter to carry, however, it’s more expensive. So, both of these have features that balance the scale.
Depending on your lifestyle one is better than the other. Again, these two take the first spot. Both offer important features and qualities which make it hard to choose.
Better to Buy with Base.
I will conclude this review with a piece of advice. It’s better to buy this car seat or any other car seat with a base. It’s cheaper and saves you more time.
When bought separately they are expensive. All that money you need you will need later on. Maxi Cosi Cabriofix is one of the best car seats out there that’s simple and modern.
What are your thoughts on this car seat? Do you agree with the title above?
