Similarities Between the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 and Cameleon 3 Plus.

Seat Unit and Canopy.

When it comes to the seat unit in general both have the same features. Both the Cameleon 3 and Cameleon 3 Plus offer forward and rear-facing, adjustable with straps and a little bit of a legrest.

Both seats have 5 point harnesses which is upgraded from the original Cameleon stroller which was a 3 point harness system.

A big canopy with UPF50+ protection and washable fabrics. So both are also suitable from 6 months with the seat unit and up to 17kg.

Carrycot and Car Seat.

The carrycot is made with premium soft fabrics to give comfort to the baby and it’s only compatible with these two models and not any other Cameleon model.

It is suitable from birth up to 6 months and is available in many colours. Easy to attach with one hand on both strollers.

Both are also compatible with the Bugaboo Turtle by Nuna car seat, and car seats from brands such as Nuna, Britax, Cybex, Chicco, Peg Perego, etc.

So, you do have many options and some of these have some of the best car seats.

Weight and Dimensions.

Both have a lightweight on the seats around 9.6kg which is the not lightest, but Bugaboo lets them weigh the same even with an update.

This does not ways happen. So you won’t miss out on this. When it comes to the folded dimensions it’s the same as well.

The chassis folds the same and has the dimensions at H:30.5cm W:58.5cm L:90cm. The only difference is that the Cameleon 3 has a height of 30cm instead of 30.5cm.

However, this is unnoticeable.

Frame and Wheels.

The same frames are foldable with one hand. Both have bumper bars that are removable and can rotate.

Bugaboo Cameleon 3 and Cameleon 3 plus have the same height on the handlebar. From 100cm to 110cm it’s higher than the average handle height.

It’s good but it might be a bit difficult for shorter parents to handle. The baskets can be attached and detach with ease.

The way they are designed make it easy to access because it’s curved with deeper features. It looks to take up to 5kg of weight.

Both have all-terrain wheels which Bugaboo never disappoints with. Punctured proof tyres and air foam tyres.

All suspension wheels are designed to give you a comfortable push on any terrain. The wheels are removable also to allow a compact fold (Although it’s not the most compact).

Style and Design.

Both have the same design and are noticeable to be Cameleon prams if you are familiar with all Bugaboo prams. Although they share differences Bugaboo still kept the design similar.

Both have almost the same set of colours and the fabrics and materials remain the same. Both were also upgraded with classic+ which meant more options on colours and frames.

The Same Accessories.

Some of these are:

Differences Between the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 and Cameleon 3 Plus.

A Slight Difference with the Frame.

When it comes to the seat frame on the Cameleon 3 there’s foam under the seat but with the Cameleon 3 plus or only aluminium which makes it resemble other Bugaboo strollers.

A Difference with the Basket.

Although they have the same easy attachment it’s not the same. The newer basket it’s easier to access from both sides and less curvy.

The older version was harder to reach. Both are also designed differently and have different sizes.

The basket on the Cameleon only has black fabrics, while the other one has a mesh-like look. Making your things not stuff when placed there.

Many top-quality strollers offer this.

Price Difference.

They cost almost the same depending on what you buy. Let’s look into how much the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 cost.

Both offer black frames and aluminium frames and they charge you higher if you buy the premium fabrics and other colours mix patterns.

Cameleon 3 costs with aluminium around $999.00 and with the black frame $1099.00. This is around £675.00 and £805.00 depending on where you buy it from.

When it comes to the Cameleon 3 plus you have $999.00 – $1019.00 with the aluminium frame and $1131.00 – $1151.00.

Which is around £850 upwards and it can be cheaper depending on where you buy it. So, as you can see there’s a lot of price difference.

The Colours on Bugaboo Cameleon 3 and Cameleon 3 Plus.

When it comes to the colours there are some similarities they share. These are the similar colours that are more darkened:

  • Black
  • Grey Melange
  • Red
  • Orange
  • Soft Pink
  • Ice Blue
  • Petrol Blue
  • Off White

Cameleon 3 plus differ in the way that it offers these additional colours:

  • Black
  • Sky Blue
  • Ruby Red
  • Soft Pink
  • Fresh White
  • Neon Red
  • Sunrise Yellow
  • Grey Melange
  • Blue Melange
  • Birds (pattern)
  • Waves (pattern)

The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 plus allows you to mix things up a little bit. You can choose the base, frame and colours of the hood either with one colour or multiple colours patterns.

Making it more suitable for parents all around the world.

You also have the special edition with the Cameleon 3 plus pram. It offers Dark navy colour and Grey Melange colours with the choice of aluminium and black frame.

These are called Cameleon 3 classic+.

You have also other collections such as Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Fresh Collection, Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Anterior and Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Kite.

As you can see the Cameleon 3 plus has soo much to offer. You have predesigned ones or you can choose your preference and it’s assembled for you (Well, you get to do the job).

Which One is Better?

Aside from the colours, price, basket and a little bit of frame change both are almost identical. When it comes to features and dimensions it’s the same thing.

For many parents, these are the most important factors. The suitability and compatibility because you can take both strollers everywhere and there’s not that much difference.

However, the Cameleon 3 plus is still better even though it cost more in some cases. It has a more breathable material on the basket.

The design looks more sophisticated in some parts of the frame. You have huge colours options which some value more.

So, it’s no doubt wins the day. With its simple and special edition.

Who prefers the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 then? Well, people like me maybe. It still has many colours to choose from, and many won’t mind the basket and the foam underneath the seat.

It’s cheaper which is the biggest pro other than that it has the same features as the newer version. It’s a quality stroller and many parents are still buying it.

It’s still compared with Uppababy prams and Silver Cross prams.

Both are not suitable from birth with the seat unit and are up to only 3 years. Many others have up to 4 years or even 5. Both are not double compatible.

They lack mesh ventilation panels on the canopy with peek a boo windows. Wheels do not swivel and are not lockable.

The baskets are not the bigger.

Both are very pricey which makes them almost impossible for some to buy.

To summarise it, the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 and Cameleon 3 plus have more similarities than differences, although it’s there.

Who won’t miss out on big things if you decide to go with the older version, because what makes it valuable is still available?

If you want more colour choices well then the Cameleon 3 Plus is the one. What is it going to be for you? Are you team Bugaboo Cameleon 3 or Cameleon 3 plus?

  1. Very nice comparison on the Cameleon 3 and Cameleon 3 Plus. Making these decisions are often difficult as you want the purchase to be a good, comfortable, and dependable. Bugaboo is a brand that can be trusted, so it’s really all about preference.

Looking through the review, I think the Cameleon 3 Plus would be a better option for our family. Better side access and more color options would be the selling point for us between the two.

Thank you for going through the similarities and differences of these two products.
