Baby Jogger City Select Stroller – Baby Jogger City Select Review.

The famous Baby Jogger City Select stroller that has been popular for many years, it’s still going strong. Today, I decided to write about the single stroller, and tell you about it.

For this review, I will detail the pros and then point the cons. Afterwards, I will also compare the stroller with other popular buggies and see if it has value in the market.

PS, did you know that baby jogger started manufacturing jogging strollers for runners? I never knew that, but as time went by they started to provide strikers for every family.

I did a review of the Baby Jogger City Select double stroller. You can view it if you are interested in buying it.

So, you are about to start your journey with your precious little one, and you are counting the months ahead. If you are searching for a stroller late, then weeks ahead.

To make your future journeys easy Baby Jogger introduces the City Select stroller to you. It’s available in soo many configurations which we will get more into later on.

Suitable from 6 months the seat unit is available for your baby to use up to 15kg which is around 3 years. It can be more or less depending on your toddler’s growth.

If we start with the frame, which offers 4 big wheels, but as usual the 2 back wheels are bigger. They are designed to have strong tyres.

That’s why they are called all-terrain wheels because of the ability to push the buggy on any terrain. You will come across many difficult grounds and having all-terrain wheels will make life easier.

Otherwise, you will be restricted and we all don’t want that. Most of us want to journey with our babies to many terrains. The wheels offer all suspension as well.

Making the ride smooth and easy. The wheels will move easily and with the addition of the swivel wheels, you can turn them quickly without any problem.

Lock the wheels as well after you use the brake. This will make it steady, and it won’t move. Very secure for your little munchkins.

The loose swivel wheels are very good for narrow places. You push your way through without any difficulties. The chassis offers easy to fold.

You only need to pull the hatch and it will pull quickly. A one-way fold and when folded it’s very compact. You can store it in your boot or at home. (Very good if you have a tiny space).

Lastly, The frame offers a big basket underneath. It will be very good to place your baby’s and your things. When using in the double mode it will provide a good space for both kids as well.

Seat Unit.

You can’t use the seat from birth, but on its own, it will help your toddler and baby. It has a big space seat unit with the option to face you or the world.

It’s around this time your baby or toddler will enjoy facing forward. Give them a nice experience. It offers multiple reclining positions, 4 In, fact.

You can have access to this from the side, just near you. You have a near lie-flat position and some other positions that can be used for playing, or just sitting upright and enjoying the view.

The seat also offers a head adjustment for your little one’s comfort. To make them even more comfortable and safe you have the harness system.

A 5 point harness system with chest pads to use. It will provide a soft place for your baby to touch, and as well keep the harness clean.

With a big canopy, your baby will surely be safe from that UV. It offers UPF50+ sun protection and even protection from other minor weather conditions.

Besides the big and convenient hood, you also have the peek a boo window to use. When facing forward you won’t be able to see your baby or toddler.

The window will help you view their activity. If it’s your baby then being able to see them is more important. For their safety and your peace of mind

It will also save you from going back and forth, which is unfortunate for other stroller and fortunate for this one. The canopy has the same colour as the seat. (Not always the case with some buggies).

It’s available in more than one colour.

City Select Stroller: Accessories.

Double Mode.

So when using the double mode you have many options. With adapters, you can use other brands of car seats. The double has 16+ configurations, which is very good.

You have twin mode, duo mode and then you also have a single mode of course. These are the 16+ configurations you can have with the double mode:

  • 2 carrycots.
  • 2 car seats.
  • 2 seat units.
  • 1 carrycot and 1 car seat.
  • 1 carrycot and 1 seat unit.
  • 1 car and 1 seat unit.
  • 1 carrycot
  • 1 car seat.
  • 1 seat unit.

These options face forward and rear which turns it into 16+ configurations. An example would be to have 2 seat units facing each other. (One forward and the other rear-facing).

The seat unit can face the opposite sides, and the carrycot and car seat can be positioned at the front or back.

Amazing, and perfect for your baby as they grow up.

Pram Mode & Travel System.

You can buy the carrycot and car seat separately if you want a pram mode and also a car seat. With these options, you can provide your little newborn with a place to sleep and relax.

The carrycot offers a lie-flat position and it’s used up to 6 months. It only faces the rear and so does the car seat. With adapters, you can use these.

Baby Joggers car seat is useable in the car as well, after the carrycot, it offers the best experience. Suitable up 12 months+. Can depend on your baby.

  • Expensive as single and double mode. With and without the travel system.
  • Seat unit not suitable from birth.
  • Not available in that many colours.
  • It’s hard to access the basket when using the double mood.
  • No bumper bar.
  • There’s no adjustable handlebar. (A real bummer for tall parents).
  • No legrest or also called calf rest.

Baby Jogger City Select Stroller vs Other Strollers.

As mentioned above this stroller has been in the market for a while now, and it has had many competitors. For this comparison, I will choose single modes only.

One of these competitors is Baby Joggers own City Mini GT2 single stroller. I have already reviewed this stroller not that long ago, so comparing them can be done deeper.

Another stroller I chose is the Uppababy Cruz V2 stroller which is often compared with.

City Select vs City Mini GT2.

Not that much similar in design, and for the double mode, one is tandem and the other side by side. However, they do share similarities and these are:

  • Double convertible.
  • Travel System ready.
  • Suitable from birth with the cot.
  • All suspension wheels.
  • Swivel wheels and all-terrain wheels.
  • Easy fold And auto click mechanism.
  • Big hood.
  • Multiple reclining positions.
  • Sun protection and peek a boo window.

These are quite a lot but the differences come with age suitability and many others. It’s suitable for up to 22kg which is 4 years.

The seat also offers 2 peeks boo windows, 6 adjustable handlebar positions, a one-hand fold and a rear brake. The frame is much lighter at the single-mode.

With just 9.6kg making it an almost light buggy and easier to push.

City Select also offers features such as 16+ configurations with the double. It has head height adjustment and a bigger seat. With the single-mode, the City Mini GT2 looks better, but with the double mode then City Select wins.

It’s also an older stroller than the Gt2 which is an upgrade as well. It cost almost the same and the City Select is favourite among many.

So, it will still be chosen by many.

City Select vs Uppababy Cruz V2.

Although not from the same brand they do kind of look similar, and other similarities are:

  • Seat units suitable from 6 months.
  • Multiple reclining positions.
  • Travel System convertible.
  • Big basket.
  • Big canopy with sun cover.
  • All suspension.
  • Swivel wheels.
  • Easy fold.
  • One-step fold.

Uppababy Cruz V2 offers a zip extendable hood with mesh panels that provide fresh airflow. It’s also suitable for up to 22kg, has a stand when folded, one hand fold, removable bumper bar and an adjustable handlebar.

It also offers more colours and weights less, around 11.6kg. However, it cost way more and very expensive for a single stroller.

The City Select offers UPF50+ sun protection and a peek a boo window, which converts to a double stroller which on its own has many features and therefore benefits. All-terrain wheels.

Both take the first spot for many reasons. The City Select stroller offers a double mode, all-terrain wheels, etc and the other it’s lighter, offers an adjustable handle bar and suitable for up to 22kg.

They both have features worth placing the first spot.

City Select Offers Features That Has Been Used for Years and Will Continue to do so for Years to Come.

A long title, but those are my exact thoughts. This stroller offers features which parents are still using, and find convenient.

Which makes the stroller super good and long-lasting. The one that will take your baby to toddlerhood without needing anything else.

You just need certain accessories and then you are set for life. It’s expensive which will make you think before buying, but all strollers of this quality are.

What are your thoughts on the Baby Jogger City Select Stroller?
